Albany County Tobacco Prevention Program commissioned me to create 6 posters to encourage patrons to make the Freedom Has a Birthday event smoke free. I was given complete freedom. My concept is simply taking strong Americana images and relate them to not smoking.

While at Firehole Composites I was the Marketing/Graphic Design Intern for 2 years and 9 months. During this time I created all print materials, and for the first 2 years I was responsible for all the web design. This work included logos, brochures, tech briefs, white papers, case studies, postcards, rack cards, signage, vinyl graphics, business cards, letterheads, banners, and advertisements for national magazines. Web design included web layouts, email templates, and advertisements. I have included a very small portion of my work during this time.

Thought Chocolate is based on how consumers interact with chocolate. Chocolate is slowly enjoyed and savored; chocolate makes us feel good, and creates wonderful thoughts. The concept of slowly enjoying chocolate is articulated through the form, which is intricate and intimate. It is meant to be opened slowly causing the form to become as important as the illustrations. The box breaks down into 4 individual boxes with different illustrations and quotes.

Pangea Clothing Co is about the connection between people and clothing. People use clothing to project a self-image. Essentially, clothing becomes a part of who they are and completes them as a person. Just as clothing makes people a whole, the supercontinent Pangea was a whole. The design of Pangea focuses on creating cohesiveness. The main elements used are circles; used as diecuts, form, and the basis for the logo. The second element is color. Earth tones create a universal appeal to target a wider audience. The logo itself is modled after Pangea and how it was interconnected.

The Herbert Bayer Flash interactive showcases Bayer’s prolific graphic design career. Herbert Bayer was a member of the Bauhaus and believed in a strong hierarchy. Over time, Bayer created work outside of graphic design, such as exterior and interior designs. The interactive gradates from gray to color with rollovers on the work titles signifying the color and creativity that became a part of Bayer's work. The packaging showcases his experimentation in the Bauhaus. The user interface is simple with a very strong visual hierarchy, all displayed on one main page with buttons on the left-hand side.

Albany County Public Health currently has no branding system. They simply give away products which have been donated to them, including toys and suckers for children, contraceptives, and hand sanitizer. The biggest issue is the lack of funding for ACPH. I made my project sustainable by piggy-backing items which are already given away, or readily available. I created stickers, a rubber stamp, and an 18x24 poster that can be cut down into postcards or left whole as a poster. All items can be printed on an 8.5x11 printer, except the poster which can be printed online for $2.50 each.

The Autism poster series poster series utilizes various graphic design historical styles to showcase my views on autism. My inspiration for this poster series came from my severely autistic brother. New York School expresses my insecurity and anger of feeling small compared to my brother; the family shown in the negative space is my own. I was always angry as a child, and I used a swiss design style to convey my anger. Lastly, deconstruction represents the confusion an acceptance that comes from having an autistic sibling.

Chain of Fools by Aretha Franklin is about a woman who has been deceived by someone she thought she could trust. I extrapolated this meaning to how the government deceives the American people. The song breaks into three parts: the presidents as the chain of fools, their cabinets as the fools, and finally, Americans as the biggest fools. They are the biggest fools for not holding their elected leaders responsible for their actions and by not voting. Utilizing only conceptual black and white type, the video portrays the truth about American politics.

Oil & Vinegar contain properties that repel each other at the chemical level. They should not mix to create wonderful tastes and dishes; however, they do and it is a quandary. Cooking is just a series of quandaries that combine to create new flavors. I extrapolated the word and from quANDary, and used the ampersand as a graphic element on the bottles. Since cooking is a series of "and's", the bottles function alone or can be paired together to create oil & vinegar.

Lunch & Supper is a gourmet candy store focusing on the history of candy during the Great Depression. During this time, candy was sold as inexpensive meals. Lunch & Supper sells candy as "food" by turning licorice into spaghetti and runts into peas & carrots. The overall design of the campaign is vernacular, focusing on patterns, and cellophane, all of which were prevalent during the Great Depression and 1930's
